DIY: Removable Furry Collar

Anonymous got it right! Here is easy & with mini-price-tag furry collar DIY.

You'll need : an old jean jacket or a jacket of your choosing, faux fur or vintage fur (ako ste u Zagrebu, ”Emporio” na Trešnjevci ima dobar izbor umjetnih krzna i trenutno su na popustu!), scissors, measuring tape, tracing paper, pencil, safety pins and some fabric glue for no sew option or needle and thread.

Start by measuring length and width of your jean jacket collar. Use these measures as starting point for drawing a pattern. You want to fur collar completely cover your jean jacket collar so add few cm in length and width. The outlines should be shaped like crescent.

Cut out the pattern. 

Before you start cutting the fabric, look the right side of the faux fur. Notice what direction fur naturally lays. It is important to lay all of your pattern pieces in the some direction.
Now that you have perfect template you can begin cutting out the fabric. Add 1.5 cm hem allowance when cutting.

Tip: If you have enough fabric you can cut another identical crescent shape. Pin both pieces together wrong-sides out and sew or hand-stitch along open seams. When you have left about 10 cm, stop sewing and turn collar right-side out through the opening and continue hand-stitching until you reach your starting point.

If you don't have enough fabric, like me, you can fold the edges in and hand-stitch them or use some fabric glue to create no sew hem.

Use safety pins to attach the collar to your jean jacket. Make sure to pin on the underside so the pins won't show.
